Team SoCal Wins the Team Challenge in 2001!

The final score looks a little lopsided, but the individual matches were much closer. On my card, 17 A&B AM2, we brought home 6 of the 8 points possible. Sounds like a blowout but it was far from it! We each tied our singles match Saturday and then won doubles by barely hanging on for the last hole. Then on Sunday I barely won singles by one hole and Steve won by two or three, and then we won the doubles match on the last hole. Nail-biters the whole weekend!

Team NorCal provided quite the challenge in the beautiful sunshine of Santa Maria. Even though we brought home the cup, anyone that thinks "we owned them" is sadly mistaken! A bunch of close matches that went our way made the points pile up, but don't be misled. 

Thanks to a great bunch of guys and gals on both teams. Everybody on my card had a great time, and there seemed to plenty of fun going around all over. Thanks again to Innova for a GREAT players pack and FANTASTIC lunch on Sunday! I just hope I can qualify for the team in Advanced next year, because this was too much fun.

Of course there was a little griping going on. It was a disc golf tournament after all! But most of the minimal I heard was some complaints about bagging Ams. So in our defense, I broke the final standings out by division to the left over there. You can see that the SoCal Ams took the NorCal Ams by a 3-1 margin , BUT WAIT.....Open and Masters took it 2-1! If you throw out the Am scores completely, SoCal still wins it 61-35, which is pretty darn substantial. So fuh-gedda-bou-dit...it was fun and we took it this year to even the series at 2 wins a piece. Let's hope we can all have as much fun next year!
