One of our priorities is to organize a series of PDGA-sanctioned
tournaments. There are 11 tournaments and most of the tournaments
are a Tier 'B' level with the exception of the Old Zoo Fling,
which is an 'X' Tier, and the Series finale, which is a Super Tour
event. Tier 'B' events are worth double PDGA points and Super Tour
events are worth triple PDGA points. 'X' Tier events do not earn PDGA points.
|
||
| The Series finale will be at La Mirada Regional Park the weekends of October 16 & 17 for the Amateur divisions and October 23 & 24 for the Pro divisions. The Amateur divisions will be Tier 'B' tournament and the Pro divisions will be a Super Tour event. | ||
| NOTE; A new rule of the PDGA is that ONLY current Members can compete in Super Tour events. You must be current as of 1 month prior to the event. You can NOT sign-up or renew at the event. | ||
| In addition to PDGA points, SoCal Members earn points towards the Series championship in October at La Mirada Regional Park. Only Members can earn points for each of the tournaments with a minor change this year with 10 points for participation, versus 15 points last year. This change is a more equitable points system, while still encouraging participation. In addition, Members save $5 per event. Nonmembers pay a $5 fee. | ||

| Participation points - Everyone who plays in a 2 day SoCal Series event will receive ten (10) points per tournament. Everyone who plays in a 1 day SoCal series event will receive five (5) points per tournament. | ||
| Performance points - these points are in addition to Participation points. Each participant will receive one (1) point for every person he/she beats in their division. (Example; The 1st place winner in a division with 30 players will receive 29 points, 2nd place 28 points and so on) | ||
| Bonus Pool - is comprised of the people who win prize money. They will receive one (1) point for every person in the Bonus pool that he/she beats in their division. This is in addition to the other points. The SoCal Player of the year will be determined in each of the Pro divisions by taking the five (5) best finishes out of the ten (10) SoCal Series tournaments (including the Series Finale); and in the Am divisions by taking the four (4) best finishes out of the ten (10) SoCal Series tournaments (including the Series Finale). | ||
| NOTE: A players' standings will be determined from his/her best finishes within one division. In other words, if a player competes in several divisions throughout the Series, only the finishes within the same division will count toward determining the Player of the Year in that division. | ||
| To earn an invitation to the California Challenge Cup team tournament, we will use your total overall Series points, versus the best 5 or 4 Series finishes. You must also be a member. The team captains will have picks they can make including drafting non-members. But, those that are not members and are drafted, will be required to join. | ||
| The team captains will start at the top of the standings and go down from there. If they can't contact you, they will move onto the next in the standings. If someone wasn't able to compete in all the tournaments, is a member, and competed in at least one tournament, that person would qualify as a captain's pick. The captain's are limited to no more than 2 picks for the Open and Masters, and 1 pick each in Grand Masters, Women, Advanced Am, Am, and Junior divisions. | ||
| We hope this answers any questions regarding the points system and qualifying for the team tournament. If you have any questions about how this applies, contact Loren Price at (909) 471-0736 or Tim Selinske at (909) 481-6266. Don't wait any longer, join now! | ||
